Class Policies
Welcome! We’re so glad you’ll be joining us for a Fab Lab class or workshop. Please take a moment to review our class policies so we can ensure a smooth, safe, and fab experience for everyone.
Attendance + Agreements
By participating in any Fab Lab class, workshop, or event, you acknowledge that sewing and crafting involve tools such as sewing machines, irons, scissors, rotary cutters, and needles, which carry inherent risks.
By attending, you agree to release and hold harmless Fab Lab Fabric + Quilt, its instructors, and any hosting partners from liability related to injuries or accidents that may occur during class. You also consent to basic first aid if needed.
Each participant must purchase their own class seat.
Please arrive on time so we can begin together. Students arriving more than 15 minutes late may not be admitted, and we are unable to offer refunds or credits for missed classes.
Please leave your workspace as you found it — return tools, pick up dropped pins, and unplug irons before leaving.
Fab Lab and our host locations are not responsible for personal belongings left behind.
Cancellations + Rescheduling
Because our classes are small and materials are often prepared in advance, we appreciate your understanding.
All classes require a minimum of 3 students. If a class does not meet minimum enrollment, we’ll contact you at least 24 hours in advance to reschedule or offer a credit.
We do not offer refunds unless Fab Lab cancels a class.
If you need to cancel, you may receive a class credit if you contact us at least 48 hours before your class start time.
No credits or transfers are available within 48 hours of class. However, you may transfer your spot to another participant with advance notice.
To cancel or transfer, please email hello@iheartfablab.com.
Materials + Preparation
Some classes include materials, while others require you to bring your own supplies. Please review your class description carefully for details.
When applicable, students should bring their own sewing machines in good working order, along with basic supplies such as thread.
Not all projects will be completed during class time — you’ll leave with the skills and guidance to continue on your own.
As a Fab Lab student, you’ll receive 15% off materials purchased for your class.
This discount applies to supplies needed specifically for your registered class project and is valid in-store during the week leading up to your class. You’re welcome to use it more than once during that time.
Please mention your class at checkout so we can apply the discount. Discount does not apply to Refab materials.
Health + Attendance Considerations
If you are feeling unwell, we kindly ask that you stay home. If possible, we’ll work with you to reschedule or offer a credit.
Class Environment
We aim to create a warm, welcoming, and respectful environment for all participants.
Please be mindful and kind in your interactions — this is a space for creativity and community.
Disruptive or unsafe behavior may result in dismissal without refund.
Fab Lab has a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, discrimination, or hate speech of any kind.
If you experience or witness behavior that feels inappropriate, please let the instructor know.
If you have accessibility needs or learning preferences, please reach out ahead of time — we’re happy to accommodate whenever possible.
Age Policy
- Kids Classes: Ages 8–12. Designed for younger makers, with instruction and tools appropriate for this group. Parents may drop off their child but must provide a reachable phone number and plan for on-time pickup.
- Adult Classes: Ages 16 and up. Geared toward independent participants.
If your maker is between 13–15, contact us — we can help guide you to the right class.
Class sizes are intentionally small to ensure each participant receives individual guidance and support while working with tools and equipment.
If you have questions about whether a class is a good fit, feel free to reach out — we’re happy to help guide you.
Tools + Equipment
Please use all tools with care and follow instructor guidance.
If equipment is damaged due to misuse, we may ask participants to contribute to repair or replacement.
Photos + Privacy
We may occasionally take photos during classes to share on our website or social media. If you prefer not to be photographed, just let us know — we completely respect your preference.
We will never share your contact information with third parties. Your information is used only for class communication and occasional updates from Fab Lab.
