Class Policies

Welcome! We’re so glad you’ll be joining us for a Fab Lab class or workshop. Please take a moment to review our class policies so we can ensure a smooth, safe, and fab experience for everyone.

Attendance + Agreements

By participating in any Fab Lab class, workshop, or event, you acknowledge that sewing and crafting involve tools such as sewing machines, irons, scissors, rotary cutters, and needles, which carry inherent risks of injury.

By attending, you agree to release and hold harmless Fab Lab Fabric + Quilt, its instructors, and any hosting partners from claims or liability related to accidents or injuries that may occur. You also consent to first aid or medical treatment if needed.

  • Each participant must purchase their own class seat.

  • Please arrive on time so we can begin together. Students arriving more than 15 minutes late may not be admitted, and we are unable to offer refunds or credits for missed classes.

  • Please leave your workspace as you found it — return any tools or supplies used, pick up dropped pins, and unplug any irons before you leave.

  • Fab Lab and our host locations are not responsible for personal belongings left behind. Please double-check your items before you go.

Cancellations + Rescheduling

Because our classes are small and materials are prepared in advance, we ask for your understanding around cancellations.

  • All classes require a minimum of 2 students to run. If a class has fewer than 2 students registered 24 hours before it begins, we’ll contact you to reschedule or offer you a credit toward a future class.

  • We do not offer refunds unless Fab Lab must cancel a class for any reason.

  • If you need to cancel your registration, you may receive a class credit if you contact us at least 48 hours before your class start time.

  • No credits or transfers are available within 48 hours of class start time. However, you may transfer your spot to another participant if you let us know at least 48 hours in advance.

  • To cancel or transfer a class, please email hello@iheartfablab.com.

Class Environment

We aim to create a warm, welcoming, and respectful environment for all participants.

  • Please be mindful and kind in your interactions — this is a space for creativity and community.

  • Disruptive or unsafe behavior may result in dismissal from the class without refund.

  • Fab Lab has a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, discrimination, or hate speech of any kind, including racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, or discrimination against people with disabilities or religious beliefs.

  • Every participant deserves to feel safe and respected. If at any point you experience or witness behavior that feels inappropriate, please let the instructor or host know immediately.

  • If you have accessibility needs or learning preferences, please let us know ahead of time — we’re happy to accommodate whenever possible.

Tools + Equipment

  • If we provide sewing machines or tools, please treat them with care.

  • If a tool is damaged during class, we’ll work together to repair or replace it.

  • When possible, bring your own thread and basic sewing supplies (details will be included in your class description).

Location Notes

Fab Lab classes currently take place in borrowed community spaces while our permanent studio is being prepared. We’ll provide parking and access details with your class confirmation email.

We respect your privacy and will never share your contact information with third parties. Your information is used solely for class communication and occasional updates from Fab Lab Fabric + Quilt.
