Fab Lab Fabric + Quilt
Can you imagine creating your very own magical quilt in colors that are completely your own?
In this week-long camp, kids (ages 8–12) will design and sew a real quilt from start to finish in our sunny, creative makerspace. Campers will learn how quilts are made by creating a beautiful nine-patch sampler quilt, making 4–5 different quilt blocks, selecting their own fabrics, and finishing their piece with traditional hand-tying.
Along the way, they’ll build confidence with sewing tools and techniques while exploring color, pattern, and design in a hands-on, joyful way.
Campers will learn and practice:
- How quilts are made from simple building blocks
- Sewing straight seams on a sewing machine
- Cutting fabric safely and confidently
- Pressing seams with an iron
- Measuring fabric and working with patterns
- Choosing and combining fabrics and colors
- Following step-by-step project instructions
- Hand-tying a finished quilt
- Creative problem-solving and design choices
- Patience, focus, and confidence with sewing tools
No prior sewing experience is needed—just curiosity and a love of making.
Enrollment is limited to six campers to ensure plenty of individual attention and support.
All materials are included. Please bring a nut-free snack and a water bottle each day.
